Washington, DC – CenterPoint Education Solutions is excited to welcome two new educator leaders to its team of experts. Dr. Ellen Gardiner and Dr. Luis Lima, both veteran educators, join CenterPoint’s team of well-respected content experts who have worked directly with schools, districts, states, and assessment and instructional leaders to support advances in teaching and learning and helped build nationally recognized assessments aligned to college- and career-ready standards.
Ellen Gardiner comes to CenterPoint with more than 15 years of experience as a classroom educator, including as a high school English and journalism teacher and a college writing instructor. “I am so pleased to join the CenterPoint team,” Ellen shared. “As a classroom teacher, one of the most rewarding aspects of my job was finding ways to inspire and engage my students in their own learning. At CenterPoint, I now have the opportunity to support educators across the country in building those same kinds of knowledge, skills, and competencies in their students as I help them build quality, aligned curriculum and instructional materials.”
Luis Lima is an accomplished mathematics expert, with more than 30 years of experience as a classroom teacher and district leader in Maryland, including supporting the state’s transition to the Common Core State Standards. “There is a national imperative to help our students – particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds – ignite a passion for learning and a desire to continue their education so they are prepared for success after high school,” said Luis. “As a teacher, I saw firsthand the need for professional development and support that helps teachers and school leaders improve the quality of instruction so that every student attains that goal. At CenterPoint, we get to make that a reality.”
Since the organization’s launch in January 2017, CenterPoint has worked with 49 school districts in 16 states, impacting more than 144,000 teachers and 1.5 million students. Team members collectively have more than 100 years of experience working with schools and school systems to improve outcomes for all children.

Ellen and Luis join a team of experts, led by Chief Academic Officer Dr. Bonnie Hain, that includes current and former teachers, building leaders, district leaders, and state department of education staff with years of experience in the field of education, and demonstrated success that has led to improved outcomes for students and educators.
