CenterPoint Congratulates Lesley Muldoon for Her Appointment to Lead the National Assessment Governing Board

March 4, 2019 – Washington, DC – Today CenterPoint Education Solutions congratulates its Chief of Policy and Advocacy Lesley Muldoon on her appointment to serve as the next executive director of the National Assessment Governing Board, beginning in April. The Governing Board sets policy for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also known as the Nation’s Report Card.

“I am thrilled that Lesley has been selected to lead the National Assessment Governing Board,” said CenterPoint CEO Laura Slover. “I have worked with Lesley for over a decade as a colleague and friend, and believe she is a perfect fit for this role. I admire her deep expertise, her strong management skills, her ability to work with multi-sector leaders, and her dedication to educational opportunity for all children. Students, educators, and parents will be well-served under her leadership.”

Since 2017, Muldoon has played a central role at CenterPoint, an education startup that offers state-of-the-art assessment content as well as expert professional learning and curriculum solutions. The non-profit organization has grown to support more than 165,000 teachers and 1.75 million students in 16 states. CenterPoint also partners with some of the leading companies in K-12 curriculum and assessment.

Previously, Muldoon served as the Chief Operating Officer at Parcc Inc., overseeing strategy and operations for the Partnership of Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC), a multistate assessment consortium. In this role, she oversaw a staff of 30 and provided oversight of all programmatic efforts in support of the PARCC assessment program, and the development and execution of its strategic plan.

“NAGB made a wise choice in selecting Lesley. She is known and respected in the assessment community for her energy, vision, and leadership,” said Cornelia Orr, a member of the CenterPoint Board of Directors and former Executive Director of the National Assessment Governing Board. “She’s the kind of talent that hails from the CenterPoint team.”

“Assessment plays a critical role in shining a light on student learning and progress, and I am excited for this incredible opportunity,” said Muldoon. “My career has afforded me the privilege of working with a talented group of professionals across the education sector. I am grateful to all those colleagues from whom I’ve learned so much. I am honored to bring my experiences to the Governing Board to help continue NAEP’s tradition of quality, trust, and reliability and usher in the next generation of NAEP assessments.”
