We are pleased to introduce the new CenterPoint blog, The Point, where we will highlight exciting work underway with our partners, feature commentary from our talented staff, and offer reflections on promising policies and practices that advance equity and opportunity for all children.
First up on The Point next week will be a look at how developmentally appropriate formative assessment tools can support early childhood educators in setting a strong academic foundation for young children, including a look at specific examples of tools teachers are using in classrooms now and thoughts on how technology can improve the quality, efficiency and utility of formative assessment practices moving forward.
Through the rest of the month of October, we’ll feature a series of posts we’re calling “Assessment 101,” in which CenterPoint team members will discuss the role of assessment in advancing opportunity, rigor, and college and workplace success for all students. This will include a look at how assessments can drive equity, why alignment – of assessments to standards and among assessments in a system – is so critical to supporting educators and students, and how high-quality assessments can support innovative classroom models like personalized and competency-based learning.
We look forward to sharing our thoughts and perspectives with you through The Point, and welcome your thoughts and feedback on topics you’d like to see featured in the coming weeks and months!
