Executive Vice President, Teach Plus
Alice Johnson Cain is the Executive Vice President of Teach Plus, where she works closely with Teach Plus teachers and staff to set policy goals and ensure that advocacy yields tangible victories for students. Alice leads policy workshops for teachers across the country, connects teachers with leading policymakers, and builds effective partnerships between Teach Plus and other organizations that are also working on behalf of students. She previously served as a Congressman George Miller’s chief advisor for K-12 policy when he was chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Education and Labor, and as an advisor to Senator Paul Simon when he served on the U.S. Senate’s Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee. Other experience includes the Children’s Defense Fund, National Insitute for Literacy, Hope Street Group, and a policy fellowship in New Zealand. Alice began her work in education as teacher in an adult literacy program serving low-income and homeless adults in Washington, DC.
