English Teacher, Hillsboro High School
Dr. Melissa Stugart has been an educator for nearly 15 years, serving in diverse roles at the school, district, state, and national level. She currently teaches English at Hillsboro High School in Nashville, TN, but has previously served as the K-12 Alignment Director at the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, where her projects centered on alignment between K-12 and higher education with particular emphasis on College and Career Readiness, and the Director of Teacher Outreach at the Collaborative for Student Success where she led a national fellowship of educators and worked to amplify teacher voice in support of higher education standards. Her work with amazing educators across the country was her inspiration for returning to the classroom. Melissa holds a BA from Bryn Mawr College, M.Ed. from Columbus State University, and a PhD in Literacy from Middle Tennessee State University.
