Chair of CenterPoint Board, Managing Partner of Pastorek Partners, and former Louisiana state superintendent of schools
Paul Pastorek is the managing partner of Pastorek Partners, LLC, a national consulting firm dedicated to transforming K–12 public education through innovative and tested strategies. Pastorek previously served as Louisiana Superintendent of Education from 2007 to 2011, directing the state’s efforts to turn around more than 100 of Louisiana’s most challenged schools, including rebuilding elementary and secondary schools in New Orleans that were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Pastorek received both his undergraduate and Juris Doctor degrees from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He resides in New Orleans.
An attorney, Pastorek has had a long legal career, and has also served as chief administrative officer, chief counsel and corporate secretary for EADS North America, a defense, aviation and telecommunications company. He also was a partner, litigator and corporate attorney for 27 years with the law firm of Adams and Reese. In 2002, Pastorek was appointed as general counsel of NASA, where he directed a 150-attorney legal team and served as the agency’s chief ethics officer. From 1996 to 2004, Pastorek was a member of the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and was elected to three consecutive terms as board president from 2001 to 2004.
